Welcome to Mrs. Southwick's Classroom

Welcome to my class and your Kindergarten year.

My name is Mrs. Lauren Southwick and it is my pleasure to welcome your child to a wonderful year of learning and growing! I have a B.Ed from the University of Alberta and have taught in Early Childhood programs throughout the province since 2016. Early childhood is a significant period in human development and Rocky View’s Kindergarten programs allow children to explore and experiment with their surroundings and to learn how to interact with other children. In my classroom, students will learn fundamental literacy and numeracy skills through meaningful opportunities and experiences which encourage and challenge them. They will also learn through play. Through play, in addition to practicing important academic skills at their own pace, children learn a wide range of concepts and skills that contribute to their emotional, social, physical and cognitive development. I want my students to find learning engaging and FUN!

You can help support your child’s success by checking their communication folder daily and reading my weekly email which is sent home on Fridays. Please also follow along with your child’s learning journey by checking their MyBlueprint portfolio and PowerSchool.
